Call for Information on Retrofitting Traditional Buildings on behalf of DECC

The Sustainable Development Foundation is supporting the following call for information:

STBA (SUSTAINABLE TRADITIONAL BUILDINGS ALLIANCE) CALL FOR INFORMATION AND RESEARCH ON THE REFURBISHMENT AND RETROFIT OF TRADITIONAL HOMES ON BEHALF OF DECC (DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY AND CLIMATE CHANGE)

The UK has the oldest building stock in the western world, with about a quarter of this being traditionally built; traditional buildings make up a significant part of our built environment.  The Sustainable Traditional Buildings Alliance (STBA) is driving the sharing of expertise, knowledge and best practice to sustain and improve traditional (pre-1919) buildings in an informed and sympathetic manner. The STBA pools the expertise, knowledge, experience and enthusiasm for this important topic from a diverse range of respected organisations including: Construction Skills, English Heritage, National Trust, Parity Projects, British Gas, FMB, CIOB, RICS, Historic Scotland, CADW, SPAB, Good Homes Alliance, IHBC, Somerset House Trust and University College London. Any organisation that can support the aims and objectives of the STBA is welcome to join this alliance.

Our current project for DECC seeks to collate any information regarding the retrofit and refurbishment of traditional buildings (defined as built pre-1919) from professional bodies, academic researchers, product manufacturers and experienced tradespeople.  We seek any technical guidance, case studies, academic research and literature that may be relevant, as well as information on projects that are under way but not yet completed or published.  As such, we are making a CALL FOR INFORMATION AND RESEARCH that we ask you to contribute to. We are doing this through an online survey, collecting some information about the piece of work and the building(s) it is concerned with, and then requesting access to relevant documents (reports, magazine articles, etc).  This project will assist DECC in ensuring that the Green Deal is effectively applied to traditional buildings, and support its successful implementation.

To supply us with information, please use the following online survey by Monday 12th March 2012. It will allow you to submit more than one document or information on numerous projects, if you wish.
