Sustainable Developments

The SD Foundation takes a holistic view of sustainability, covering many of the health, social and community aspects - such as neighbourhood regeneration, occupant wellbeing and whole life costs - as well as the environmental aspects like energy, waste and water. In this way, we aim to create a built environment that meets the needs of sustainable communities.

We also take a leading-edge stance about what is sustainable. In particular, we believe that all new build or regeneration projects should have CO2 emissions that are better than the 2050 targets, that BREEAM Excellent is a minimum, not an aspirational standard and that community-scale solutions have an important role to play in delivering a low-carbon and sustainable future.
