Why we are different
We are passionate about sustainability and are driven to make a tangible difference by encouraging practical change. This applies as much to our own activities as to those we work with, so we adopt strict rules on our own purchasing and procurement, including in our choice of offices and working environment! The SD Foundation team have been working in the field of sustainability and the built environment for many years, often taking a leadership or campaigning role in terms of driving performance change within the mainstream industry. We have real-life experience and understanding of built environment projects and processes, as well as being tied in to leading-edge research and thinking, so we know what it takes to make a difference on your building project.
Finally, we approach sustainable development as a learning process, involving a number of steps that we all have to go through. We therefore strive to be:
- supportive as well as challenging
- open and transparent in our approach
- honest about our capabilities and expertise
and will engage in the sustainability arena in the spirit of continuous improvement, learning from leading-edge experience and drawing on the best possible evidence base so that between us we can implement best practice approaches!
